Eliminatinge VxVM from boot startup |
|
10 Sep 1996 |
Occasionally you might want to stop the VxVM volume manager from
starting at boot time while you troubleshoot a bootup problem.
This way you can determined if the VxVM startup is hanging up the boot
sequence.
One way to do this is by creating the install-db file in
/etc/vx/reconfig.d/state.d.
For example:
test# touch /etc/vx/reconfig.d/state.d/install-db
You might need to boot to single user mode or boot from CD-ROM and mount
the root filesystem to do this if the boot problem is severe enough.
The exsistance of the install-db file will stop VxVM from configuring when it
is
seen by the VxVM startup scripts in /etc/rcS.d.
(The script will actually exit with status 0 and continue to next script.)
