Problem Note Top
Customer trying to connect a Cisco "access server" (terminal server?) to the
serial port of his Netra t1 1405.
Needs pinout of the 1405's serial port. It's a 25-pin port.

Technical Note:

Gave customer pinout of 25-pin rs232 connector:

  2 TxD
  3 RxD
  4 RTS
  5 CTS
  6 DSR
  7 GND
  8 DCD
20 DTR

Advised him to cross the TxD signal to the Cisco's receive pin, and the RxD
signal to the Cisco's transmit pin.
Cross the RTS pin to the Cisco's CTS, and CTS to the Cisco's RTS pin. Cross
the DTR signal to the Cisco's
DSR and the DSR signal to the Cisco's DTR.

Since the Sun's DCD pin is not connected, advised the customer to type the
command "setenv ttya-ignore-cd true"
at the 1405's 'ok' prompt.

Customer will consult the Cisco's wiring diagram for connecting an RS232
terminal.
