These steps below explain the disk addressing and cabling for the D1000 only.

CABLING THE D1000

The D1000 68 pin connect is Differential Ultra SCSI connections.

The D1000 is available in 2 models, a 8 drive or 12 drive system.

The D1000 has the capitablity of using all 8 or 12 drives on one

host. Or you can divide your D1000 into 2 backplanes each using

4 or 6 drives, depending on which model you have, on each host.

The D1000 CAN NOT be dual hosted.

On the rear of the D1000 you have 4 68pin scsi connectors.

If you will be connecting all 8 or 12 drives to one system you will

need to connect the scsi cable from the host to the far left

or the far right connector. On the other far right or left

68pin connection you need to connect a differential terminator

(Part Number 150-1890). The 2 inside connections you will need

to connect to each other using the small scsi cable which

came with the D1000 (Part number 530-1883).

If you will be using the D1000 as 2 backplanes of 4 or 6 drives each, you

will need to connect HOST-A to the far left 68pin connector. Then connect

HOST-B to the far right 68pin connector. Then the 2 inside 68pin connectors

each need to have a differential terminator (part number 150-1890) connected.

SETTING TARGET ADDRESS

You can change the address of the drives by changing the dipswitch settings

on SW1.
