Determining if a NIS or NIS+ Nameservice is Running.

Notes:
For 4.x OS, use ps -aux.

For Solaris 2.x, use ps -ef.

These options have been left off completely in the following examples for
the sake ofportability.  Please insert the options for your specific OS
after the ps command.

ps  | grep ypbind

If anything is returned, it indicates NIS is running.

ps  | grep nisd

If anything is returned, then NIS+ is in use.
