Switching the Active Control Board

Caution - Failure to follow these steps can result in crashed domains and/or
arbitration stops (arbstops) to occur.

Caution - Do not edit the /var/opt/SUNWssp/.ssp_private/cb_config file
manually.  Instead, use the ssp_config command described below.


  1. Shutdown all running domains

  2. Power off all boards
     % power -off -all

  3. as root, run /opt/SUNWssp/bin/ssp_config to change the primary control
     board
     # /opt/SUNWssp/bin/ssp_config cb

  4. If there is a spare ssp, run ssp_config to change the primary control
     board.

  5. reboot the ssp(s)

  6. log into the primary ssp as the ssp user and power on the boards
     % power -on -all

  7. Use bringup on each domain
     % domain_switch <domain>
     % bringup
